Training: Quandary Peak

This weekend I completed the climb of Quandary Peak, one of 53 mountains in Colorado that is over 14,000 feet at the summit. Quandary Peak is 14,265 Ft with a total elevation gained of 3,450 ft from trail head to summit. I am currently staffed at a client site in Atlanta and had to struggle to keep myself moving once we got above 12,000 ft. I doubted the affect that living down here 4 days a week would have on my acclimatization, however now I am a believer. Quandary is not a difficult peak to climb in the rankings of the 14ers in Colorado; however it was hard on my knees. The upper mile of the climb is mostly through a rock field and requires constant attention to footing and balance. On the decent I was very cautious not to turn an ankle...

If you look at the picture to the right you can see our inspiration during our climb. This young mountain goat was bouncing around the mountain most energetically and putting us all to shame!
